Everyone is an actor these days. I just saw an atrocious trailer for a movie starring Christina Aguilera and Cher. Apparently if you can make music videos, you can easily carry a leading role in a film. Then I read an item in New York Post's Page Six today about "The Situation" from Jersey Shore's plans to become a serious actor.
So this means if you are on a popular reality TV show where you get drunk, dance at cheesy nightclubs, and then take trashy women home, you are qualified enough to be on the silver screen.
This is why I have never been convinced acting is really all that hard. Can't just about anyone act? I mean, how hard is it to read a couple lines? I could act. I act everyday. You should have seen my performance in "I am so happy to spend time with my husband's family" or "I am really interested in my neighbor's story about his grandchildren."
Sure, there are some actors (a very small group) who are heads above the rest (i.e. Matt Damon, James Franco, Julianne Moore, and Diane Lane). But in most cases it just seems like you could take anyone off the street to do just as good a job.
I think it is fair to say I could be the lead in the Ghost Whisperer and no one would know any different.
