During extreme weather conditions, it's common for local news stations to send their reporters outside to confirm the weather conditions to the public.
WAFF, a news station in Huntsville, Alabama, recently had reporter Muriel Bailey perform an experiment to see if water would freeze faster in a plastic or a styrofoam cup in sub-freezing temperatures, reports Mediaite.com (video below).
Bailey confirmed that the water had mostly frozen in the plastic cup. She then segued into a warning to pet owners to check their animal's water outside to make sure that it had not frozen.
However, in extreme temperatures, pets are likely to freeze to death, noted My Fox 8.
