Private Practice star Kate Walsh says she feels “like a loser” for not having kids.
The actress, 43, opens up in the April issue of More magazine about her split from movie executive husband Alex Young after just 14 months in 2008.
She says she’d love to have kids, but not on her own.
On not having kids:
“I feel like a loser. I would definitely love to be a parent. But I definitely don’t think I want to do it on my own. Things are just going to go the way they go… I thought I’d be married and have three or four kids. I always knew I wanted to be an actress, but I think I always wanted a quote-unquote normal life because I had a very untraditional upbringing.”
On her divorce:
“Oh my God. The worst thing ever. It was so public, and yet it was so legal-embroiled. You couldn’t talk about anything…I’ve learned to seek other people’s counsel more–that’s a good part of growing up.”
On aging in Hollywood:
“It certainly requires you to take care of yourself. But I like to eat food, and I don’t diet. I do Pilates, and hike with my dog. As you get older, everything changes. Everything starts getting … looser. But I think it’s important to accept that. I’m lucky. I’ve got pretty good genes. But I think it’s a weird thing to fight it.”
Update: But before tongues start to wag at a thousand revs, Walsh has since taken to Twitter to assure us that she doesn’t actually feel like a loser.
“Oy vey, u say one thing and it’s friggin’ gospel: to be clear: I do not feel like a loser for not having kids, I was EXAGERATING [Sic], people!” she wrote.
Glad to hear it, love!
