Actor Shelley Malil has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend, Kendra Beebe.
Shelley Malil, a star of “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” was found guilty of stabbing his former girlfriend, Kendra Beebe, following a three-week trial in September. The actor was sentenced to life in prison today.
Malil said he didn’t intend to hurt Kendra but had acted in self-defense when he lashed out in the dark in 2008. He stabbed Kendra over 20 times in the incident.
Shelley told the California jury that he thought he was being attacked from behind following a argument with Beebe’s male friend, David Maldonado.
Shelley was also found guilty on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
Malil, 45, was sentenced in court today to life behind bars with the possibility of parole in nine years.
