Young Man Charged In Murder Of Teenage Girlfriend's 19-Month-Old Baby

A Texas man has been arrested and charged with murder after police found the body of his girlfriend’s 19-month-old baby girl underneath a bridge.

Reports say that 20-year-old Joshua Beard faces a capital murder charge for beating the infant to death. 17-year-old Alexis Botello called police to report that her 19-month-old daughter Tylea Moore was missing, but when police arrived and questioned the teenage mother, she confessed to them that Beard had brutally beaten the baby.

Investigators soon discovered that Beard had gone on a rampage, “hitting her with his closed fists, open hands and stomping on her with his feet.” Botello also told police that when she woke up in the middle of the night on July 4, Tylea had “bruises on her ribs, chest, arms, legs and even on the top of her feet. She also had bite marks all over her.” The search warrant affidavit also says that Beard, “picked Tylea up and threw her so hard on the bed that she bounced off and landed on the ground.”

When the couple discovered that the infant was dead, they reportedly put her in the trunk of a car, drove to Walmart to buy gloves and shovels, and dumped her body underneath a nearby bridge. On Monday, Botello reported the girl missing, but by the end of the day, the truth emerged, the body was found and Beard was arrested.

“I was surprised to even find out,” Stacy Fennell, Beard’s neighbor, said. “I didn't even know that there was a child living over there, so that was pretty shocking to me.”

Police say that Beard is not the father of the murdered baby and add that Botello may be charged for her role.
