Kanye West has been spotted out in public for the first time since being admitted to UCLA Medical Center for temporary psychosis -- and he has a new hairdo.
The 39-year-old hip-hop icon was seen attending designer friend Rick Owens' furniture exhibition at the MOCA Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood Dec. 8, the Daily Mail reported.
West was reportedly without wife Kim Kardashian and was instead accompanied by Owens' wife, Michele Lamy, at the exhibition. He also appeared to have dyed his hair blond.
Several rumors have been circulating since the Grammy-award winning superstar was admitted into UCLA Medical Center for sleep deprivation, exhaustion and dehydration Nov. 21. One of the latest rumors to surface was that Kim was looking to divorce Kanye.
However, that rumor was discredited by Jonathan Cheban, one of Kim's close friends, who told the Daily Mail Dec. 7 that he had just FaceTimed the couple while attending an event in New York City.
Kanye spent 10 days at UCLA Medical Center before being discharged. TMZ reported that he was dealing with paranoia and depression prior to being hospitalized.
Several friends and celebrities have weighed in on his mental breakdown.
Fonzworth Bentley told Page Six that Kanye was mourning the ninth anniversary of his mother's tragic death.
"He never mourned his mother, and that’s at the root of this, and you don’t have to be a clinical psychologist to figure that out," Bentley told Page Six. "That is at the core of this. I think a lot of these things are coming up and coming out now."
Bentley also said Kanye's fashion line, along with his wife being robbed in Paris, also contributed to his breakdown and subsequent cancellation of the rest of his Saint Pablo tour:
You have to look at it from his perspective. You put out the most amazing album. You’re breaking records on merch ... So, what happens is ... you take that, and then your fashion show just demolishes and fails ... We all know more than anything that he wants to be successful in fashion, so when editors and everything are beating him up ... That happens and then you’re onstage, your wife gets robbed — and it’s not like that didn’t happen — that happened ... It’s not OK. That’s not something to question. That really happened.
Bentley said Kanye spoke to his crew prior to the cancellation of the Saint Pablo tour.
“He went through everybody and was like, ‘I’m sorry this didn’t happen for you like this, but y’all need to know how important y’all are, and everybody comes and helps me, but we need to be helping each other’ ... But at the same time I believe in my heart it was a call for help,” Bentley said.
