Outback Steakhouse is known for a handful of particular dishes, but their signature baked potatoes always get an honorable mention from customers for being so perfectly cooked (video below).
Now, the process for making a perfect baked potato the Outback way has been revealed.
The process is very simple. All you need, besides potatoes, are a 1/2 cup of extra-virgin olive oil, two tablespoons of kosher salt, and whatever toppings you desire.
First, rinse off the potatoes and pat dry. Next, rub the olive oil over the potatoes so they are covered entirely, but not dripping. Place the potatoes on your baking sheet and sprinkle some salt on top. Without wrapping the potatoes in foil, put the baking sheet in the oven at 350 degrees.
Not using foil may be Outback's secret for crispy skin with a soft center.
After 50-55 minutes in the oven, take the potatoes out and see if they are fork tender. If so, pull them out and top with butter, cheese, sour cream, or any other topping you'd like!
You may never want to bake a potato another way again.
