Two upstate New York teenagers who have been missing for nearly a year have been found, and an acquaintance of their family has been charged with their kidnapping.
Shaleen Fitch-Fortier, 13, and Ky-Lea Fortner, 15, were reported missing in April 2015. They had been living with their foster family in Binghamton, New York, at the time.
According to police, Amanda Hellman, 29, an acquaintance of the family, has been charged with second degree kidnapping after the teens were found on March 9 about 15 miles from where they were last seen.
Hellman was arraigned before a judge and is being held without bail in Binghamton’s Broome County Jail, ABC News Reports.
According to NBC News, the teens were last seen waiting for the bus at Susquehanna Valley High School on April 27 before they went missing.
The teens have been turned over to Broome County Family Services.
