Driver Spots 'Sasquatch' Before Colliding With Deer

An Idaho woman is blaming a sasquatch she saw on the side of the road for her subsequent collision with a deer, saying she became distracted upon seeing the sasquatch in her rearview mirror.

The 50-year-old Tensed woman was driving south on U.S. Highway 95 on March 22 when she collided into a deer near Potlatch, Moscow-Ullman Daily News reports.

According to The Associated Press, the woman informed Benewah County Sheriff's authorities that she had seen a 7-to-8 foot tall "shaggy" sasquatch chasing a deer on the side of the road as she drove around 11 p.m.

As she checked one of her mirrors to catch a second glimpse of the creature, a deer ran in front of her car and the two collided.

Police filed the incident as a vehicle crash into a deer but did not mention the sighting of the sasquatch.

The Latah County Sheriff's Office didn't release a statement on the sighting.

Though there is no proof that the creature popularly known as "Bigfoot" actually exists, famous naturalist Sir David Attenborough believes the evidence gathered so far on such creatures is "convincing," Cnet reports.

The sasquatch is a hairy creature similar to a human being that reportedly lives in North America and is said to be a primate measuring between 6 and 15 feet tall.

Other sightings of the American legend included a June 22, 2009 encounter between a student and the beast as the teen was driving. According to Animal Planet, the student had stopped and turned around his car before catching a glimpse of "something walking on two feet" about 50 feet away from him.

The student said he felt "nervous, confused, and excited at the same time." He described the animal as being about 7 and 7.5 feet tall, covered with black hair and having broad, muscular shoulders with arms that swung wide with palms facing upwards.

Another reported sighting of the beast took place on the early morning of Jan. 8, 2008. A driver of a big rig said he was carrying Idaho potatoes on U.S. I-15 near St. George, Utah, when he saw the gigantic creature. According to the driver, the creature ran away upon seeing the bright lights of the truck.

The driver went on to describe the sasquatch as standing least 8 to 10 feet tall and weighing between 600 and 800 pounds. According to his report, the creature had large eyebrows, black hair and lanky arms that were longer than those of a human.
