A woman in East Point, Georgia, reportedly shot a young suspect when he and two others tried to break into her home last Thursday, just after midnight.
The woman said that three people knocked on her door and falsely claimed they were from the East Point Police Department (video below).
When the woman cracked her front door open to see who it was, the trio allegedly tried to force their way in.
However, the woman was armed with a handgun and began firing, hitting one of the would-be intruders.
The woman, who did not want to be identified, told WSB-TV that the incident "could be retaliation."
According to the police report, a juvenile suspect was superficially wounded on the head and behind, but the other two suspects got away.
There have been numerous break-ins in the neighborhood.
In December 2013, the Associated Press reported that a homeowner living in the same area fatally shot a burglar who tried to enter his home through a back door with a shovel.
The homeowner heard a noise from upstairs, walked downstairs and shot the young male intruder, noted The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“I had to do what I had to do to protect my house and my family,” said the homeowner. “I just hate to see any young man really just wasting their lives."
