Woman Receives A Valentine's Day Surprise From Her Late Husband

Valentine’s Day can be especially difficult for people who have recently lost their significant other, but Shelly Golay of Casper, Wyoming, got a pleasant surprise from her late husband.

In February 2014, Jim Golay was diagnosed with brain cancer and the tumor was inoperable.

“My husband was dealing with brain cancer,” Shelly told KDVR. “He had a Glioblastoma and it was an uphill climb. The diagnosis wasn’t good.”

Jim wanted to give his wife a great Valentine’s Day even after he died, so he collaborated with a local florist to make sure Shelly felt loved.

“Basically he had called and set it up before he passed and what it’s going to be is just, every Valentine’s Day just, some of her favorite flowers, the assorted roses, mixed colors, things like that, every day until she dies,” florist Jessie Row said.

Two days before Valentine’s Day, Shelly received the flowers from her husband. “I thought the kids sent the flowers to begin with,” she said.

Shelly called the flower shop to learn how her late husband managed to send her flowers.

“She called the other day,” Row said. “We all started almost bawling, so it was really touching to hear the story and know that he had done that for her. It seems like something that only happens in the movies or that you hear about.”

Shelly was moved by Jim’s plan. “It was true love and you just don’t find that very often, you know, the fairy tale romance, the knight in shining armor, you just don’t find that. And even though we didn’t get the fairy tale ending, it was amazing,” she said.

“He’s such an amazing man and he ... can love beyond boundaries, there is no boundaries with him. Even in death, he’s just amazing,” she added.
