Washington Woman Cited For Driving While Breastfeeding

A woman in Everett, Washington, was pulled over by a state trooper on Wednesday after reportedly breastfeeding her baby while driving.

Police were notified by a 911 caller that a woman was driving on I-5 in Everett with a baby on her lap, according to Q13 Fox News. A Washington State Patrol trooper located the car and pulled the woman over, noticing as he approached the car that her 1-year-old child was clinging to her.

The mother, 44, then reportedly explained to the trooper that she’d been breastfeeding her child during the drive, adding that she’d been stopped for the same reason in the past. She said that her baby “just won’t stop crying in the car otherwise.”

According to fellow trooper Mark Francis, the officer gave the mother a “long talk about why that’s unsafe,” before citing her for child restraint violation.
