Woman Prepared Meth Tea, Left It Unattended; 2-Year-Old Granddaughter Drank It

A grandmother who was visiting her family in Garner Valley recently made a cup of methamphetamine-laced tea, and then left it untended.

The narcotic-laced tea ended up in the worst hands possible: those of her 2-year-old granddaughter.

Cynthia Ann Watson is a resident of Aloha, Oregon and was visiting her family in the community near Idyllwild last month.

Authorities have said that after Watson's young granddaughter drank the tea, the girl was "talking rapidly, scratching her skin, could not sit still and was very agitated."

The toddler tested positive for methamphetamine at a hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Watson has now pleaded guilty to child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance.

According to the Riverside Press-Enterprise, the 51-year-old woman was sentenced to 60 days in custody, including 43 days in a work-release program.

She has also been ordered to stay away from her grandchildren.
