Police believe 43-year-old Peggy Phillips of Pasadena, Texas, sexually abused her 22-year-old former nephew between 2007 and 2009, when he was 15 and 16 years old.
Phillips was charged with sexual assault of a child after the victim came forward earlier in 2015, KPRC reports.
Phillips allegedly first sexually assaulted the teen, who was her nephew at the time, while he was in the hospital. The teen later moved in with Phillips and her husband, who is the teen's uncle. Court documents state Phillips and her nephew had sex "hundreds of times after that inside the house."
After Phillips divorced the teen’s uncle, the young man continued to live with Phillips.
The teen’s uncle said he took the victim in during the summer of 2008 to protect him from “a bad situation” at his home in South Carolina. However, things "went south” about two weeks after the victim moved in.
According to court documents, the teen said Phillips was very flirtatious with him and “had it in her mind” that they should be together, causing conflict when the victim moved in with Phillips and her husband.
Phillips’ bond has been set at $30,000.
