A Bay City, Michigan woman purportedly attacked her husband’s 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend at a local Walmart.
On Nov. 28, Bay County law enforcement responded to a pregnant teen’s complaint that she had been assaulted at a Walmart in Bangor Township, says Undersheriff Troy Cunningham via a police report. The teenager said she was in the store with her 25-year-old boyfriend when 22-year-old Rita J. Orlik – her boyfriend’s wife – called asking where they were.
As the couple browsed the electronics section, Orlik appeared and proceeded to kick and punch the 16-year-old. The teen’s boyfriend separated the pair to break up the brawl.
Walmart security cameras happened to record the assault, according to MichiganLive.
The pregnant teen ended up in the emergency room for treatment of minor injuries and officers arrested Orlik the following day. Orlik says she was shopping at the Walmart and found out the 16-year-old was pregnant that day.
Orlik decided to accept a plea deal the day before her hearing and on Jan. 27, appeared before Judge Timothy J. Kelly, pleading guilty to one count of assault and battery. Her indictment is a misdemeanor and carries a sentence of up to 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.
The court agreed not to impose jail time for her initial verdict. They did not, however, dismiss any other charges.
