A Florida woman was arrested after she allegedly hit her husband in the face after he broke into her room while she was masturbating.

Garrett Higgs, 43, arrived home shortly after midnight on Sept. 7, and heard moans coming from the room in which his wife, 42-year-old Flavia Higgs, stays, according to Daily Mail. The couple, who have three children, are reported to sleep in separate bedrooms at their Port St. Lucie home.

The two of them had "not been intimate for a year," police documents said.

Thinking there was another man in Flavia's room with her, Garrett broke into his wife's room using a screwdriver. After he got the door open, the husband realized Flavia had been masturbating, and there was no one else in room.

The confrontation led to a fight where Flavia allegedly hit Garrett in the face. The wife called 911, and police found Garrett in the home's driveway when they got there.

"He said he and his wife have been estranged for some time living in separate bedrooms and had not had any intimate time in over a year," reads the affidavit from the incident. "He said when he heard the noise he went to the room where she was staying and heard the sounds again."

The affidavit also described Flavia's recollection of the events.

"She said their relationship was failing and he had been living in another room," it reads. "She said she was pleasuring herself and he barged into the room."

"She jumped up and went to the door to stop him and tried to physically escort him away at which point he pushed her arm away and against the wall," reads the document.

Police arrested Flavia for misdemeanor domestic battery. She was being held in the county jail but has since been released.

In June, an Illinois man was arrested for attacking his estranged wife's lover with a chainsaw, nearly cutting off his arm, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Jose A. Jaimes-Jimenez, 27, reportedly rammed his car into his wife's boyfriend before he attacked him with a chainsaw. Jaimes-Jimenez was ordered to be held on a $2.5 million bond on a charge of first-degree attempted murder by Judge Joseph Cataldo, who cited the "violent, horrifying nature of the crime" in his decision.

"This was almost a scene from a horror movie," added Cataldo.

Assistant State Attorney Maria McCarthy said the attack had been premeditated.

"The defendant thought about it all weekend," McCarthy said, after Jaimes-Jimenez saw his wife in a store with the other man. Jaimes-Jimenez had waited outside of his wife's workplace prior to the attack.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Jaimes-Jimenez was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
