Bad Chinese food is not a good enough reason to call 911, an Ohio woman learned the hard way (video below).
Tracey McCloud, 44, of Alliance, Ohio, was arrested July 6 after she called 911 and told a dispatcher that the Chinese food she ordered was not up to her standards.
McCloud called 911 from the Main Moon Chinese Restaurant around 4:30 p.m. on July 6, reports The Smoking Gun.
"I had bought some Chinese food and it's not to par to me and I asked to get my money back and they acting like they don't understand me and they took my food and won't give my money back," McCloud says to the dispatcher in the call released by the Alliance Police Department.
The dispatcher then asks for her name and incredulously says, “And this is why you called 911?”
"Um, what am I supposed to do? Jump over the thing and beat them up and get my money back?" McCloud replies.
The dispatcher reminds McCloud that she should have called the regular police line instead of 911, but McCloud says that she did, and they transferred her to the emergency line.
Police arrived at the restaurant and arrested McCloud for misuse of 911. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 10 for the fourth-degree misdemeanor, according to the Alliance Police Facebook page.
In McCloud’s defense, the restaurant is not known for excellent customer service. Main Moon Chinese Restaurant has only two stars on review site Yelp. Curiously, one review from Yelper CJ G., posted on July 7 with one star, reads, “Food was not up to par for my liking and I demanded my money back, no go, called emergency responders and got arrested.”
The Alliance Police Department posted about the call on Facebook on July 7, calling it “9-1-1 ABUSE.” It reminded users that 911 calls are for emergencies only. “Misuse of the system delays dispatchers from taking calls of people with actual emergencies,” the post reads, in part.
