An Asian tourist was declared missing in Iceland, only to later join the search party and realize she was looking for herself.
The woman, described as "about 160cm, in dark clothing and speaks English well," was declared missing in Eldgja, south Iceland. She allegedly got off of a tour bus and did not return, prompting a search that lasted an entire weekend, the Reykjavik Grapevine reported.
As it turned out, the woman was only changing her clothes. When she returned to the bus, the other passengers did not recognize her. Roughly 50 people searched the area, and a helicopter was deployed to assist, Yahoo News noted.
Eventually, the woman came to the realization that she was the person she’d been looking for. She reported herself safe to police, and the search was subsequently called off.
The bizarre story went viral, with many readers finding it amusing.
"Iceland's new tourism slogan: Iceland, come find yourself!" one reader commented on Yahoo News.
"This has got to be the funniest thing that I have read online!!" another added. "Thanks for sharing this story...I am gonna laugh all day about this one."
