An 80-year-old woman shot and killed a home intruder who stabbed her husband.
The woman placed a call to 911 at approximately 8:30 p.m. on April 28, saying that she "had shot an intruder after he broke into her home and stabbed her husband," according to Snohomish County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Shari Ireton.
The 25-year-old intruder died at the scene, KTLA reports.
The woman's 75-year-old husband was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be treated for stab wounds to the abdomen, according to the Seattle Times. He was in stable condition, KTLA reports.
The sheriff's office believes the intruder intended to burglarize the family's home and he did not know the residents.
The identities of those involved have not yet been released.
