The wife of a former high school assistant football coach in Tennessee pleaded guilty to having sex with a 16-year-old player on her husband's team.
At a pre-trial hearing, Kelsey McCarter, 27, pleaded guilty to all seven counts, including six statutory rape charges, reports the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
She was facing 38 years in prison, but instead pleaded guilty in favor of a three-year term, with eligibility for release after serving a third of her sentence, the Daily Mail notes.
The judge ordered Kelsey to return to court on Oct. 30 to surrender.
According to the mother of a South-Doyle High School sophomore, the sexual encounters happened in 2015 while her son was living with Kelsey and her husband, Justin McCarter, who had invited the teen to stay at their home.
The boy's older brother also lived with the McCarters for about a year, and both played on the football team.
According to prosecutors, Kelsey and the 16-year-old sophomore had sex in her home and car multiple times in 2015.
She also allegedly sent him a video of herself topless on one occasion.
Justin resigned as an instructional aide and assistant football coach for South-Doyle in February 2016.
Principal Tim Berry and Assistant Principal Clark Duncan were placed on paid administrative leave in February.
Following an investigation into whether they failed to immediately report allegations of child sexual abuse, they both received written reprimands and returned to work in May.
The victim and his brother moved back in with their mother, and began attending a different high school.
Kelsey's attorney, Doug Trant, made a statement following her hearing. "She made a mistake," he said. "She'll move past it. She's young, and as you saw, her family is here in support of her. Her husband is strongly supportive of her."

Coach Randy Brown and his wife, Kelly, faced felony charges of committing oral copulation with a minor and conspiracy to commit oral copulation.
Although only the wife was accused of performing oral sex, the husband "was involved in a conspiracy for it to take place, [and] was therefore charged with the underlying offense as well," the prosecutor explained.
