Whitney Houston Dead at 48

Singer Whitney Houston died in Beverly Hills Saturday. She was 48 years old.

Paramedics were called to Houston's room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at about 3:30 in the afternoon. She was pronounced dead a short time later.

MSNBC reports that Beverly Hills police found no signs of foul play or drug use. The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.

Houston had a long and public battle with drug abuse, as well as a tumultuous marriage to ex-husband Bobby Brown.

Houston was in town for Sunday's Grammy Awards, which will now likely be a very somber event.
