A shopper at a Fred Meyer grocery store in Portland, Oregon, stopped Cody Jaye Lindsay dead in his tracks with just a grocery cart on Feb. 18 (video below).
Police followed Lindsay, 26, after he was seen jaywalking and disrupting traffic, WPTV reports. Lindsay ran as officers approached him in the parking lot of Fred Meyer’s. Lindsay then ran through the store until he crashed into a grocery cart.
A shopper had reportedly pushed his cart into the aisle on purpose. After Lindsay went flying, the man picked up his cart, collected his things, and continued shopping.
Lindsay was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, interfering with a peace officer and a parole violation.
"The officers wanted to thank him for sacrificing his groceries to stop a fleeing suspect," the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement, according to WPTV.
The incident was recorded through footage of the grocery store.
