Minnesota woman Marie Brace made an odd discovery on March 4 when she noticed a crashed semi-trailer truck with a dog at the driver’s wheel.
According to Mankato, Minnesota, police, the dog had put the truck into gear while the actual driver was in a nearby store, KMSP reports. Somehow, the dog accidentally knocked the shift out of idle and it sailed down the street into a tree and a parked car.
“I heard the tree snap and I thought somebody decided to turn around, but then it just kept going forward,” David Stegora, a witness, said.
Brace took a photo of the semi and the white Labrador Retriever peering out of its window.
“Russ said when they were all standing there the truck driver went into the truck and rolled up both windows,” Cathy Dahl, the owner of the hit car, wrote on Facebook, according to KMSP. “After he left, the dog rolled them back down. LOL!!”
Thankfully, nobody was hurt and the dog is in good condition. No citations were issued.
Police Cmdr. Dan Schisel said the State Patrol took an accident report and the truck was taken off the road, according to Mankato Free Press.
