Indiana Police Searching For McDonald's Customers Who Paid For Meal With Heroin

Indiana police are searching for McDonald’s drive-thru customers who paid for their meal with a small bag of heroin.

LaPorte, Indiana, police said that a trio of customers paid for their order at the McDonald’s drive-thru Jan. 11 with money that was wrapped around a small green baggie, the South Bend Tribune reports. The 28-year-old employee who discovered the baggie turned it over to police, who tested the substance and confirmed it was heroin.

According to LaPorte Metro Operations Coordinator Harlan Williams, the incident is being investigated. Investigators will review surveillance footage to attempt to identify the customers in their vehicle.

Williams added that the driver most likely did not realize that he handed the cashier heroin along with the money in his pocket.

“It shows you how significant the problem is here that we’re battling,” Williams told the Tribune.
