This Is What A Man Discovered Inside A Bottle Of Vodka He Bought (Photo)

An alcoholic beverage company has launched an investigation after a British man discovered a spider floating around inside a bottle of vodka.

Luke Millard, of Birmingham in England, found the bug after purchasing three bottles of Smirnoff Gold from a local cash and carry to give as Christmas presents, the Daily Mirror reports.

The 30-year-old father-of-three told the Birmingham Mail: “I know tequila has a worm in it, but I don’t think that spider is supposed to be there. We bought the drinks as Christmas presents about three weeks ago, but then my partner spotted the spider – and it was a big one. We haven’t got a clue how it got in there – the bottle was totally sealed. No way were we going to drink out of that.”

Diageo, the company behind the Smirnoff brand, sent a £40 ($62.59) voucher to Millard after his complaint, and has launched an investigation to find out how the insect came to be in the bottle, ITV News reports.

"The investigation into this bottle is ongoing by our dedicated Quality Assurance team,” a spokeswoman for Diageo, who confirmed the bottle was produced and packaged in Santa Vittoria in Italy, said. “We have apologised for any distress that may have been caused to the consumer and have also given him some vouchers for a replacement bottle.”

This is not the first time a dead spider was allegedly in a place where it shouldn’t have been.

Maxine Brizzle, of Handsworth, complained one was wedged between slices of a sealed, Hovis loaf, according to the Birmingham Mail. She had purchased the bread from Asda, an American-owned supermarket chain based in Britain.
