Television host Wendy Williams passed out while donning her Halloween costume during a live taping of her show on Oct. 31 (video below).
Williams, 53, was wearing a Statue of Liberty Halloween costume 48 minutes into "The Wendy Williams Show" when she was filmed staggering backward before collapsing, reports WGHP.
"We do it every year," said Williams, just before her words began to slur. "It’s always a lot of fun."
"Let’s get started," she continued, pausing before she was about the announce the show's first guest.
Around that point, Williams' eyes visibly widened and she struggled to speak coherently.
When she passed out, the show went to commercial break while producers and staff rushed to help Williams, reports WGHP. The site also said that, according to TMZ, the show's employees also called in the fire department.
According to Williams' official Twitter account, the host fainted after overheating from the heavy costume, makeup, and lights.
Williams, however, quickly recovered and was back on the show after the break. However, she still struggled to speak.
"That was not a stunt," she explained to the audience. "I overheated in my costume, and I did pass out. But you know what? I'm a champ, and I'm back."
Williams’ publicist also confirmed she was seen by professionals and has recovered fully, Us Weekly reports.
"She is OK and will continue as shows as planned. She will address this on-air tomorrow," he added.
But some viewers remained worried, so the host again reassured fans online she was fine and even joked about the incident.
"Everybody relax," she wrote on Twitter. "I'm doing fine, just need some water and electrolytes. On another note, I slayed and laid Halloween, LOL! Shout out to my magnificent Glam Squad and Ceaser Galindo the costume designer. More on this tomorrow."
Still, some viewers encouraged Williams to seek immediate medical attention.
"As a nurse slurred speech and delayed thought process are signs of TIA or mini strokes," tweeted one viewers in response. "It’s more than overheating please get checked out."
"Saw the event that occurred on your show today on news, please get checked," said another. "Blank stare like someone in my family. Was a [transient ischemic attack] -- TIA."
"Wendy I’m really concerned," chimed in a third. "I’ve seen a lot of strokes in my time. PLEASE have a CT to make sure everything is ok! We need you around here."
"I suffered a stroke 5 short months ago," added another. "[Wendy Williams] def had some sort of abnormal brain activity."
