A police officer in Washington D.C. accidentally shot a barber shop customer on Wednesday.
The D.C. police officer was responding to a robbery when he blocked the getaway car, and the three suspects fled on foot.
"One of the suspects involved in the robbery had a handgun in his hand and ran in the direction of another incoming police officer. In that exchange, the officer opened fire," Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier said at a press conference (video below).
However, one of the bullets flew through the front door of a nearby barber shop and struck a man in the hip, noted NBC Washington.
"It was reckless on the police's behalf," Keith Pruden, a barber, told WJLA (video below). "Children visit this shop all the time to get their hair cut."
The suspect's gun turned out to be a pellet gun, but the owner of the store who was robbed was grateful that the police arrested the three suspects.
