Waitress Threw Up, Screamed, Admitted To Stabbing Boyfriend, Cops Say

A South Carolina woman allegedly threw up when speaking to police and then admitted to stabbing her live-in boyfriend to death.

Helen Louise Wells, 20, was charged with murder Saturday after police found 21-year-old Mallory Jerell Richardson stabbed to death in their mobile home.

Lt. Robert B. Burnish of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says Wells, who works as a waitress at the Huddle House restaurant, admitted that she stabbed Richardson after an argument.

Richardson suffered a deep cut to his chest, near his heart, according to a police report. EMS workers were unable to resuscitate him, The State reported.

Wells reportedly threw up as deputies examined the body, screamed and then confessed.

She told deputies that arguments with Richardson in the past had led to physical violence and that she feared for her safety.

The murder weapon was found in the front yard of the home, where Wells said she threw it.

She is being held at Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center. No bond has been set.
