Virginia Woman Files $20 Million Cyber Harassment Suit Against Ex-Boyfriend Bruce Stimon

A Virginia woman has filed suit against her ex-boyfriend, claiming that he posted photos of her and her teenage daughter on prostitution sites and sent dozens of men to their home. The woman also says that her ex gave nude photos of her to her co-workers, her daughter and even her daughter’s friends.

According to ABC News, the year of harassment caused the woman to lose her job and forced her to change her name.

The ex-boyfriend, Bruce Stimon, pleaded guilty in December to stalking, felony identity theft, and extortion. Last month he was sentenced to three years in prison.

On the heels of that sentencing, the woman -- formerly known as Soraida Hicks -- and her 16-year-old daughter Pam have filed a $20 million civil suit against Stimon. The lawsuit claims slander, libel, and infliction of emotional distress.

Hicks and Stimon met on a plane traveling from Boston to Washington and started a long-distance relationship. Hicks lives in Arlington, Va., and Stimon lived in Kensington, N.H.

“I didn't think that he was going to be crazy,” Hicks told an ABC affiliate.

Hicks' attorney, David Shurtz, said that Stimon showered Hicks with gifts. He bought her an iPhone and paid for her service on his family plan. However the phone was just a way for Stimon to gain access to the intimate details of Hicks’ life including her contacts and emails.

Stimon also created a website advertising Hicks as a prostitute and posted her name and address, as well as her photos. His plan was to make her think she was under a “cyber-attack” and then come in and save the day.

"He was creating an artificial theory so that he would be the only man she would contact," Shurtz said. "And the theory was that she was under a cyber attack. And he came to her and said, 'Ah ha! I will be your white knight and I will stop the cyber attack.'"

Unfortunately Stimon’s plan backfired when Hicks figured out who was behind the website. She quickly broke up with him and reported him to the police.
