Video: 'Terminator' Robot Tests Clothing for Soldiers

PETMAN, aka the 'Protection Ensemble Test Mannequin,' is a headless robot (video below) developed by Boston Dynamics.

Boston Dynamics sells it as a way to “simulate how a soldier stresses protective clothing under realistic conditions,” including wearing heavy chemical weapons gear. PETMAN can even “sweat when necessary.”

It has a full range of movement similar to a human being, which should be helpful in determining the stress factors those materials will encounter when in use. PETMAN could also be used to help develop next-generation prosthesis.
