Teacher Kathryn Murray, 29, who is due to go on trial later this year for having sex with an unidentified 15-year-old student, may have tried to elope with the teen to Mexico, reports KHOU-TV (video below).
Murray was found with the teenager, now 16, at the home that she shares with her father in Houston, Texas, despite a court order banning any contact. Murray was ordered to surrender her passport when she appeared before a judge in Houston, Texas on Saturday.
Murray faces up to 20 years in jail for having sex with the boy at his home, in her classroom and a hotel.
Murray was arrested again and appeared before a judge to face a new charge of harboring a runaway, as the boy had been reported as a "runaway" by his parents.
Murray was arrested last February after police were told she was having sex with one of her students. An arrest report revealed that the boy's brother looked into his room and saw a tan bra and used condom on the floor. The boy said he saw his brother in bed and the outline of a second person under the covers.
When the woman spoke, the boy recognized her voice as Murray, a teacher at Memorial Middle School in Houston.
The teen confessed to his mother that he had sex with his teacher and was "in love" with her. In response, his mom called the police.
After being arrested and posting bail, Murray was released with a GPS ankle monitor and told to stay away from the student.
