Video (below) of an 18-year-old student, Cory Pingeton, being sucker punched was uploaded to the Internet by his fellow classmates, according to the Milford Daily News.
Opposing Views has done an analysis of the sucker punch as well.
Pingeton, of Franklin High School in Franklin, Mass, was injured with broken bones around his eye and a swollen retina.
Pingeton said: “I was in complete shock. I didn’t really know what was going on.”
Franklin Police Chief Stephan Semerjian said in a statement: “The video clearly depicts the suspect waiting for the unsuspecting victim to walk by his location, punching him as he walked by. Officers believe the reason for the assault is because the suspect thought the victim was talking “trash” about him.”
WBZ-TV got the video from students who say they viewed the attack on their cell phones. It has since been removed from the Internet.
Update: David Salmon, 17, has been named as the puncher. Judge Emogene Johnson-Smith set bail at $1,500 and ordered Salmon to stay away from the school and his victim. He will reappear for a pre-trial hearing in June. Jeremiah Ramirez, 18, who taped the attack in his iPod Touch, was also charged. A photo of Salmon below:
