A potential carjacking gone wrong left a Washington man in the hospital (video below).
The footage shows the moment a man allegedly tried to steal a Kent, Washington, driver's car while the driver was still behind the wheel on Aug. 25 -- but he ended up being dragged along when the driver took off, according to WCPQ.
In the clip, the man can be seen being dragged by the vehicle. A Kent police spokesperson said that authorities are still investigating the incident, but they suspected the man being dragged may have been trying to steal the car when the driver took off.
Police said that he had been the suspect in several attempted carjackings in Kent, according to The News Tribune.
Police said the man had punched car windows on other vehicles, as well as trying to break door handle to get into cars.
The man was taken to the hospital, but it is unclear how serious his injuries are. The victims of the alleged attempted carjacking suffered injuries, as well, after they were reportedly attacked by the man.
The alleged carjacker was then taken into custody by police.
In another carjacking story a few days later, a California man said his U-Haul was stolen, leading to a woman getting run over, KCBS reports.
Earl Turner said he was leaving his motel on Aug. 28 when he briefly went back into his room to grab something he forgot. When he emerged from the room, he saw someone making off with his U-Haul.
"I ran downstairs as fast as I could," Turner recalled. "I jumped and grabbed the door."
Turner was thrown from the vehicle when the driver slammed into a large tree in the parking lot. He chased after the truck, seeing that a woman had been hanging onto the side of the truck, as well.
"I tried to do what I could to get them to stop," explained Turner. "That's not what I thought was going to happen."
"He pulled off. I watched the girl go under the car," Turner recalled. "I heard her scream and then for two seconds, nothing after that."
He didn't know who the woman, whom he said appeared to be pregnant, was, but he assumed she was helping the driver to steal the U-Haul. The driver sped off and left Turner and the woman behind.
"He didn't even care" about the woman being thrown under the truck, Turner said. "That's messed up, man."
The woman was taken to the hospital along with another man who was also trying to chase after the vehicle. Police have not released information about the victims' conditions.
While police found the U-Haul a half-mile from the motel, they haven't said whether the suspect has been apprehended.
"All I heard was a big boom," said a witness who was also staying at the motel. "Came out of my room. That's all I heard. I see on the video the lady just laying there."
According to Turner, he didn't lose much in the carjacking since he had yet to pack the truck.
"Everything I own is still in storage, so thank God nothing I really needed got stolen," said Turner. "And thank God I'm alive."
