Video: NRA President Wayne LaPierre Attacks NBC Sportscaster Bob Costas

NRA president Wayne LaPierre recently attacked NBC sportscaster Bob Costas, who read part of a gun control article in relation to Kansas City Chiefs player Jovan Belcher who shot and killed his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins before committing suicide on Saturday (video below), reports

LaPierre said: "They tune into watch a sporting event and meanwhile what they get in regard to this cold blooded-murder that took place, what they get is a national sportscaster whining about his social agenda that he wants adopted to ban firearms and ban handguns."

However, Costas never once claimed he wanted a ban on any weapons.

LaPierre also claimed: "Bob Costas doesn't care about the crime that goes on in Chicago or the murders that go on day after day after day."  However, LaPierre failed to provide any proof that Costas does not care about crime victims.

LaPierre also said Costas “wouldn’t have said a thing last night” if Perkins “had saved her life by having a firearm." LaPierre also claimed that crime would be reduced if more Americans owned guns.

In fact, the U.S. has one of the largest homicide rates in the world, among industrialized nations, while countries such as Canada and the England have stricter gun control laws and far less homicides, gun or otherwise.
