A robber in Milwaukee, Wisconsin came face-to-face with gun-toting grandmother Ernestine Aldana on December 14, 2012 (video below).
Aldana was working in her grocery store when an unidentified man entered the store and allegedly pulled a knife on her, reports WISN-TV.
When the man reached for cash from the drawer, Aldana pulled out a gun from underneath the counter and pointed it at him.
Aldana told WISN-TV: "I was really scared. I didn't think. I didn't remember what was being said. I just took a step back, grabbed the gun and that was that."
When Aldana pulled the gun out, the man ran away.
Aldana and her husband have owned the grocery store for two years and have not encountered any robberies before this. Aldana said her son bought the gun for her protection, but she never thought she'd have to use it.
Aldana said: "My son took me out to the shooting range. I did twice [shoot the gun]. I probably shouldn't say this, but I think I was going to shoot the gun [at the robber] But he was already running away. Once his back was turned, I couldn't do it."
Milwaukee police said an arrest had been made after they released the surveillance video of the attempted robbery.
