Video: Five People Shot at Three Gun Shows on Gun Appreciation Day

Gun Appreciation Day did not exactly go as planned on Saturday. Five people (three in North Carolina, one in Indiana and one in Ohio) were injured after guns went off at three gun shows, reports CNN (video below).

Three people were shot by a shotgun while the owner was removing it from a case in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Dixie Gun and Knife Show. The victims were taken to a hospital immediately and the fire department shut down the gun show.

Another accidental shooting at a gun show in Medina, Ohio left one man with injuries in his arm and leg, according to police. The county gun show being held at the Medina County Community Center, reports the Associated Press.

Medina Police Chief Pat Berarducci said a gun dealer was checking out a semi-automatic handgun that he had just bought when he accidentally pulled the trigger.

The bullet hit the floor and struck a man standing nearby in the leg and arm. The unidentified victim was taken by helicopter to a Cleveland hospital.

At the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, Emory L. Cozee was walking back to his car and loading his .45 caliber semi-automatic when he accidentally shot himself in the hand, reports WISH-TV (video below).

Cozee was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police determined the shooting to be accidental and no charges will be filed.

A representative from Political Media, the group responsible for organizing Gun Appreciation Day, was not immediately available for comment.
