Florida police arrested a Mexican man for allegedly raping a woman who cannot hear or speak, according to News 1150 WNDB.
Juan Corona-Martinez of DeLand is being held on $50,000 bond following his arrest. Police were called out to Florida Hospital DeLand on November 19 after a 37-year-old woman told a friend she had been raped by Martinez.
The woman, not identified in the arrest report, accuses Martinez of raping her after meeting him at a birthday party on November 18.
The woman claims she invited him and two other friends to her home after they left the party to buy wine.
The two friends left the woman’s home but Martinez stayed behind.
The woman told DeLand police she was cooking for Martinez when he approached her from behind and started kissing her neck, telling her that he liked her.
According to the arrest report, the woman told Martinez she did not want to have sex but he forced her into the bedroom and raped her.
After the encounter the woman said she vomited and ordered Martinez out of the house.
Martinez was questioned by detectives the next day and claimed initially he did not have sex with her, but changed his story later on, saying the woman started the intercourse by kissing him.
Police made the arrest after fearing Martinez would flee the area if he thought he would be arrested for alleged sexual assault. The suspect told detectives the woman was upset over a recent break-up and he had had come to DeLand illegally from Mexico about three months ago.
