NASA and a community of amateur space enthusiasts alike have been searching tirelessly through recent pictures of Mars’ surface. Now, one group believes it has found a coffin.
Though physical and visual evidence is usually the hardest type of evidence to find on Mars, especially given its appearance as a barren and uninhabited planet, one group has insisted that a box-shaped object on Mars’ surface is a coffin. Though arguably the formation could be just another rock, the perfectly rectangular object isn’t exactly the product of a random wind system.
“Coffins are made to stand the test of time, but this one is made from a stone like substance,” UFOSightingsDaily.com wrote. “What would it take to get NASA to turn the rover around and examine the contents of this box?”
The website went on to estimate the size of the coffin-like object as three feet across and a foot and a half high.
The Huffington Post noted that while this discovery is one of the most interesting things ever discovered on Mars’ surface, NASA has yet to roam more than a few miles via remote control.
The images were captured via the rover Curiosity.
