Two Teens Arrested For Assaulting 26-Year-Old Mentally Challenged Man (Video)

Two teenage boys have been arrested for attacking a mentally challenged man after a video of the incident went viral.

Two boys, ages 13 and 14, were arrested and currently face several charges, including assault, for beating the 26-year-old mentally challenged man. The incident, which happened in Newark, Delaware, was reported to police by a teen who was reportedly in the video after he felt like he needed to do the right thing.

“The right thing to do was call the cops,” said the unnamed teen. “If you beat up a mentally disabled person, you should be locked away for good.”

The 26-year-old victim, who has a developmental disability called Williams Syndrome, has been identified only as Karon, and his mother is speaking out about what happened.

“Rage, anger - because of the situation, with him being mentally disabled, he doesn't do anything to anyone but be kind,” said Yana, Karon’s mother, who says she hopes the video helps people be nicer to each other. “Just make people more aware that we need to be humane to one another.”

Reports say that there are multiple clips online showing teens, including the two that were arrested, beating Karon while others watch and laugh.

“I think they were bullies to be beating on people like that,” said Karon’s younger sister Winter Brooks.

Police are still investigating the videos and say that there could be more arrests to follow.
