Two N.J. Teens Dead, One Injured In Christmas Shooting

A 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were killed and one other teen was injured in a shooting in Newark on Christmas night.

The two deceased teens are believed to be the victims of a double homicide, Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio said in a release.

Authorities have not indicated what led to the shooting.

Family of the unidentified teens say the victims were not the intended targets.

The two teens were pronounced dead at University Hospital before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

A third victim was in critical but stable condition.

On Christmas Eve, the same hospital treated the victims of a bar shooting that left three men dead and two others wounded.

The manager and son of the owner of Slick's Go-Go Bar, Pierre Clervoyant Jr., 34, along with Woodley Daniel, 32, a bouncer at the bar, and a third victim, Mushir Cureton, 27, were pronounced dead on Dec. 25.

“It appears the gunman was trying to enter the bar armed and was stopped by the bouncer,” Chief Anthony Ambrose of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said in a stamement.
