Two Middle-Aged Women Caught On Camera Trying To Steal Florida Man’s Canopy (Video)

A man caught two women red-handed stealing his canopy and other belongings on a Florida beach while celebrating the Fourth of July.

The canopy’s owner filmed the bizarre encounter at New Smyrna Beach and it has since gone viral, garnering more than 2 million views since it was uploaded to YouTube on July 5.

The video starts with the man spotting two middle-aged women trying to dismantle his canopy.

“Is that yours?” the man asks the thieves.

“Yeah, but we don’t know how to do it,” one of the women replies.

"Oh, do you need some help?" he asks.

“Do you know how to do it?”

“Yeah,” he tells the ladies. “This is our stuff.”

The two women pretend to be innocent and claim that the items belong to them. The cameraman tells them he would “let it slide,” but that is when they became angry. One of the thieves tells him to turn off the camera, prompting the man to reply, “Step away from my s***.”

The same woman begins chasing him before the video ends, but the man told Gawker that things got even more out of hand.

“I continued to back up as we went around the canopy frame,” said the man, who was identified only as Rich. “In the most bizarre moment she gnashed her teeth, lunging at me with an open palm and said, ‘I’ll grab your d***!’ I appreciated the offer but didn't feel the chemistry was there.”

Rich added: “The two then said they needed to call ‘Pat,’ which may or may not have been the androgynous SNL character. He or she was going to apparently clarify what they were doing with my stuff. Lady in Red said, ‘We need to get a phone, but not his. His phone is tainted.’ They then scurried off towards the parking lot.”

The man's wife called police shortly after to report that their things were almost stolen. Rich says that he and his family had left the items for about an hour and a half while they brought their children home for a nap.

The women were gone when officers arrived, and the husband and wife did not want to press charges, WKMG reports.
