New Jersey Men Charged In Rape And Murder Of Teen Found In Crawlspace

Two Middle Township, New Jersey, men were charged in the rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl after her body was found in a vacant home.

Nicole Angstadt was reported missing by her family on Dec. 1, 2015, and her body was found in a crawl space at a vacant home on Dec. 13, 2015, reported Press of Atlantic City. On Dec. 16, 2015, 23-year-old Derrick Powers and 33-year-old Charles Mosley were arrested and ultimately charged with the murder. Mosley was also charged with sexual assault of a minor, endangering the welfare of a child, and trespassing.

Both men are currently being held at separate jails on $1 million bail.

"It’s horrible," Middle Township Police Chief Chris Leusner said, according to Press of Atlantic City. "It’s a 15-year-old girl. It breaks your heart. It makes you angry.

"I know it hurt the whole community. My officers were out there. It’s something that bothers them. It will probably bother them the rest of their careers, the rest of their lives."

Angstadt's family held a candlelight vigil following her death, which was attended by about 200 people, reported Shore News Today.

"She was the life of the party," said Angstadt's sister, Heather Bradley, according to Shore News Today. "She was great to be around. It’s a shame that it was her. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.”
