Two New York City teens who allegedly stole a 14-year-old boy’s phone, proceeded to take a selfie on it and then send that selfie to the boy’s mother have been arrested.
Khayyam Alexander, 16, and Fehti Nekrouf, 18, were charged after their selfie was released by the New York Police Department last week, PIX11 reported.
The two thieves allegedly snatched the iPhone of the 14-year-old victim while partying at Stage 48, a 18-and-under club in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of the city, on April 17 and sent a smiling selfie to the boy’s mother. The victim’s mother reportedly received the photo on her phone shortly after it was taken.

According to the New York Daily News, Alexander turned himself in to authorities on Saturday, and Nekrouf was arrested shortly after.
Both suspects have been charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
This is not the first time a selfie taken by a suspect has led to their arrest.
A Canadian car repair shop worker took to Twitter last August to look for a drug dealer to purchase marijuana from, CNN reported. The York Regional Police responded with, “Awesome! Can we come too?” That reply has been retweeted more than 7,000 times.
