"How disturbed must a person be to do what they did to a mother of five young children?" President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, said in response to the incident. "This dangerous and reckless act goes beyond political differences."

During a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also responded to the incident.

"I know the president spoke with [Vanessa]," Sanders said. "Beyond that at this point, it’s an ongoing and active investigation so I can’t comment any further."

Donald Trump Jr. also took to Twitter to thank law enforcement officials for their help and condemn whomever may have been responsible for the letter.
