Kevin Golec, 52, allegedly stabbed his 22-year-old transgender daughter Bri Golec to death on Feb. 13, in Akron, Ohio. In his 911 call, Kevin claimed his daughter, who he refers to using male pronouns and the name "Brian," was murdered by a cult.
Kevin reportedly stabbed Bri in an altercation, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. He was charged with murder and felony domestic violence, Cleveland.com reported.
“This is like the fourth f*****g time I’ve tried to call 911,” Kevin said, according to a recording obtained by RawStory. He then said his son was dying, and blamed it on a cult.
"They attacked us, they came into our house,” he said. “I don’t know who did. A bunch of them came in, and attack us in our house f*****g — just bring and ambulance! Because I think he’s dead!”
“He’s in to a cult and all this s**t,” Kevin said. “These guys came in. I fought them off. They got him. They got me.”
Bri was a member of Trans Ohio, a group that serves the transgender community by “providing services, education, support and advocacy which promotes and improves the health, safety and life experience,” according to its website.
In an obituary by the Golec family, Bri was referred to as “Brian.”
According to Trans Student Educational Resources, 1 in every 12 transgender women are murdered. By comparison, the average person has a 1 in 16,000 chance of being murdered.
