Toni Jenkins, Waitress At Red Lobster, Receives $10,000 in Donations After Posting Picture of Receipt with Racial Slur

Toni Jenkins, the 19-year-old waitress at a Tennessee Red Lobster who posted a picture to Facebook of a customer’s receipt with a racial slur written on it, has reportedly received over $10,000 in donations since the incident.

As reported by Opposing Views, Jenkins took to Facebook early last month to post a picture of the receipt she was given by a customer, which had the words “none n****r” written in the tip line. Jenkins claimed that the customers were cold to her from the second she got to their table.

“They were extremely rude,” said Jenkins, “but I introduced myself to them and they didn’t respond. When I came to take their order they simply told me they wanted their food and to put everything in a to-go box.”

The photo wound up going viral, with people everywhere expressing outrage, even after Jenkins took it down off her own page. The waitress was even suspended without pay for a few days while the matter was being investigated.

After the story made it to the headlines, a man in California set up a YouCaring page called “Tips For Toni” that wound up totaling over $10,000 in donations.

Jenkins, a nursing student, says that she bought a car with the money and is grateful for the outpouring of support she’s received, despite the fact that the customer claims he never wrote that on the receipt and many wonder if she wrote it on the receipt herself.

"The first thing that came to me was, 'God just bought my car.' So, and that's exactly what I did with it. I paid some loans back at school. I got me a great, reliable car. And I'm overjoyed and blessed," said Jenkins. “"Words cannot go forth on how thankful, how genuine and how blessed I feel that those people had a heart to give to me when they didn't even know me.”

Now, back working at the same Red Lobster and continuing school, Jenkins says she considers the entire situation to be a “blessing.” The case is still being investigated.
