Timberwolves Michael Beasley Busted with Marijuana…Again

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley was recently cited for possession of marijuana, the Star-Tribune reported on Wednesday.

The incident, apparently, came about when cops stopped Beasley for speeding on Hwy. 12 at 3 a.m. on June 26. According Capt. Scott Boerboom, the Wolves star was pulled over for going 84 mph in a 65 mph zone. Upon stoppage, officers reportedly smelled marijuana in the car and found a little over half an ounce in the automobile.

While some may be quick to judge Beasley for yet another pot-related incident, it’s best to take a “wait and see” approach with this situation. Keep in mind, marijuana, typically, is utilized when a person needs to cope with intense pain of some sort. We’re not doctors here at Opposing Views, but is there really a pain in this world worse than having this guy leading your franchise?

The Star-Tribune noted on Twitter that it remains to be seen if the league will punish Beasley given the whole lockout situation, but because the citation was handed out before the July 1 cutoff, it’s a very real possibility.

Hopefully David Kahn releases a statement on this incident. Don’t forget, this is the man who famously said this regarding his oft-criticized forward:

“He’s a very young and immature kid who smoked too much marijuana and told me that he’s not smoking anymore, and I told him I would trust him as long as that was the case.”

Shocking that Kahn was wrong on that, given how deft he usually is about everything.
