Thieves Rob Homes of Deceased People During Their Funerals

Jeffrey Lanceman and John Contreras allegedly used Minnesota newspaper obituaries to target homes of people who’d just died, breaking into their homes during their funeral.

Police say Lanceman and Contreras stole everything from wedding rings to TVs, but it was a laptop with an IP security tracker that finally led cops to the burglars.

Police say the robberies happened in Ramsey, St. Paul, and Edina, reports CBS Minnesota.

One woman, who only gave her first name 'Colleen,' told WCCO-TV: “What we learned now [The robbers] probably had a sheet or towel hung so you couldn’t see what was going on. They tossed the place."

Colleen said the daughters of the deceased were already devastated and the robbery made it even worse: "The usual things that go with death, trying to identify belongings and important financial documents, then to come back to the home, and they had no idea what was missing."
