Dr. Mike Rosebush, who has claimed for years to cure people from homosexuality via prayer and Bible study, is now leading a coaching program at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Dr. Rosebush is the chief of Character and Leadership Coaching for the U.S. Air Force Academy, but since 1995 his primary counseling experience has been “curing” homosexuality and other “sexual addictions,” notes AmericaBlog.
He also wrote a book in 2009, Sanctification Coaching, which advises "homoerotically-capable single men who... do not presently have a heteroerotic capability to either pursue acquiring that capability, or else learn to be content with being single."
However, the “reparative therapy” that Dr. Rosebush has practiced for a good part of his career has been debunked by the American Psychological Association and the American Medical Association,
“This was his professional career before coming to the Air Force,” stated MSNBC's Rachel Maddow last night (video below). “He wrote books about ‘curing’ gayness.”
“Why would a quack ‘ex-gay therapist’ with decades of experience doing that kind of quack ‘ex-gay’ therapy be hired to oversee anything, much less the mandatory counseling program for all U.S. Air Force Academy cadets?” asked Maddow, reports RawStory.com.
According to Maddow, Rosebush was a director at two “ex-gay” groups that have since gone out of business: The National Association for Research and Therapy for Homosexuality and Exodus International, which shut down in June, after 37 years, and apologized to LGBT people, noted CNN.
