A Texas teacher who is HIV positive was seen leaving the home of a 15-year-old boy, and now, he has reportedly admitted to having sex with the teen.
According to the New York Daily News, Roger Kessler, a music teacher at Richardson ISD Academy, admitted to having sex with a 15-year-old at least for times, and Kessler, 43, allegedly never told the teen that he was HIV positive.
Last week, police were called to the home of the 15-year-old when his mother thought that they were being burglarized. When police arrived, Kessler was being detained by the woman and the officers were informed that he was in fact there with the teen and he wasn’t a burglar. After investigating further, it was discovered that Kessler was attempting to run away from the home after just having sex with the 15-year-old.
Kessler and the boy reportedly met on the Grindr app, and reports say that the 43-year-old wasn’t the victim’s teacher. The music teacher’s neighbors say they are shocked by the charges against him.
“Very nice guy. I knew he was a teacher. He seemed very compassionate about his job,” said neighbor Joann Jordan. “I’m just shocked. I won’t believe it until they find him guilty I guess. It’s just bizarre.”
Following the arrest, school officials released a statement.
“Kessler has been a music teacher in RISD for 14 years, all at RISD Academy, with no history of complaints of this nature,” the statement partially reads.
Kessler currently remains in jail on $250,000 bond.
